Animals and plants are made of cells. Cells form the basic "building blocks" for living things. Some cells have specialised functions.

Tissues are made from cells of a similar type. Organs are made from tissues, and systems are made from several organs working together.

What do we all have in common? Cells. See how they are similar and how they differ between organisms:

Visit the following webpage [Cell Structure] and see the main differences between the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Try the "Construct a Cell" activity. Take a screenshot of the cell you have constructed.

Task:

Use a drawing program (Paint, OpenOffice Draw, etc.) to build a model of each type of cell: prokaryotic cell, plant cell and animal cell. Your pictures must include the main structures and organelles present in each type of cell. Email your drawings to your teacher.
